The County Government of Turkana (one of the 47 County Governments of Kenya) wanted to redefine their digital strategy to reflect the County’s vast resources, and attract and convert a higher proportion of local and international investors and tourists while providing county information.
In many ways, you can regard Turkana Land as largely unexplored which offers you an opportunity to make your own discoveries and experience true adventures like nowhere else. Enjoy the open spaces and breath freely, something which is getting hard to find in other regions of Kenya and the world.
WestBrook was engaged to help Turkana County Government design a dynamic website that would stand out, generate a buzz, and get investors and visitors excited about this impressive and unexplored destination.
To stand out from the “Typical Government Websites”, we wanted to evoke a lively tourist destination and investors’ haven. We designed a clean landing page exhibiting one of the craters in Lake Turkana– the world’s largest desert lake –a name with the same authentic feel as the County itself.
“Some of the most significant archeological findings of pre- and early manhood have been made here, and Turkana Land righteously claims the title Cradle of Mankind. This is the place where all humans stem from – so: Welcome back home!”
Inclusion; A promise fulfilled through Accessibility.
As people become more empowered in the wake of a more inclusive devolved system of government, Turkana County Government saw an opportunity to provide a more inclusive website to appeal to the largest user base. Inclusion was one of the key promises of the new devolved government. A promise fulfilled.
WestBrook designed a responsive website making content more “inclusive” for accessibility through consideration of Turkana County’s diverse website visitors — and their unique visual, verbal, cognitive and auditory challenges.
